The country's first formal regulations governing the deportation of foreign nationals have been approved by the cabinet, introducing a framework to expedite the removal of foreigners who violate immigration and criminal laws.
Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said on Tuesday the cabinet has endorsed the draft Prime Minister's Office Regulation on Deportation, proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt.
The new regulation specifies six categories of offences under which foreign nationals may be deported when deemed necessary to protect public order and public morality.
