Reports indicate that a representative from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) recently obtained access to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) IT systems. This access was requested to assess NOAA’s compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive order that terminated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the federal workforce.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the DOGE representative is specifically searching for evidence of DEI practices within NOAA. The investigation is said to be focused on identifying individuals within NOAA who may have contributed to a 2023 report by the agency’s Science Advisory Board regarding efforts to diversify the organization.
