Denying compensation and a full pension to nurses and key workers unable to work due to Long Covid is a cruel slap to the very people the Conservatives clapped during the pandemic.
Condemning to poverty those who risked their lives to save ours when the virus was killing thousands every week is an appalling, unforgivable breach of trust.
Showering workers with praise then kicking them in the bank balance breaks an understanding that when sick pay rules were suspended, those struck down by Covid never thought they’d be cruelly abandoned like this.
The callousness is evidence that refusing to give nurses a decent pay rise isn’t a one-off policy. What we are seeing, bit by bit, is that the Conservatives don’t just not care for those in the NHS but actually have contempt for them, behaving like slave drivers.
Nurses cared for us. When they’re sick, we must care for them.
Five-star abuse
Luxury lifestyles charged by Conservative Government Ministers to British taxpayers is a grotesque abuse of public funds.
Nobody expects a representative of our country on official business to spend a night in a shop doorway on trips abroad but five-star hotels and other fripperies are indefensible, particularly during a cost of living crisis.
Lecturing the country to tighten its belt, denying nurses an essential and decent pay rise while spending a fortune on themselves, is a grotesque hypocrisy the Tories mustn’t be allowed to get away with.
A Brit special
Cutting an engaging figure after stealing the show at the Brits with four gongs, partying Harry Styles is proving he’s a singer with that special X Factor.
Harry’s House is the talk of the town when the lad from Holmes Chapel in Cheshire is heading in only one direction and that’s global stardom.
