Denver Nuggets Extend Aaron Gordon's Contract For 3 Million

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, left, drives past Minnesota Timberwolves forward Josh Minott (8) during the second half of a preseason NBA basketball game, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, in Minneapolis

The Denver Nuggets made a significant move by securing forward Aaron Gordon with a four-year, $133 million contract extension. This deal, confirmed by Gordon's representatives and his sister Elise, solidifies Gordon as a core player for the team. The extension comes on the heels of the Nuggets signing point guard Jamal Murray to a lucrative contract extension last month.

With this extension, Gordon joins the ranks of other key players like Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr., who are already signed through the 2026-27 season. Gordon, entering his 11th NBA season, has been a consistent contributor, averaging 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, in line with his career averages.

Originally drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2014, Gordon was traded to the Nuggets in 2021 and has since become an integral part of Coach Michael Malone's system. In a touching tribute, Gordon will wear jersey number 32 this season in honor of his late brother, Drew, who tragically passed away earlier this year in a car accident in Oregon.

During media day, Gordon expressed gratitude for the support he received from his teammates during this difficult time, emphasizing the bond they share both on and off the court. The Nuggets are set to kick off their season at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night, with high hopes for a successful campaign ahead.

This latest contract extension underscores the Nuggets' commitment to building a strong and competitive team for the future, anchored by a talented core of players. Fans can look forward to seeing Gordon continue to make valuable contributions on the court as the Nuggets strive for further success in the upcoming season.
