To the delight of Dennistoun residents, the hugely popular Sweet Jane Bakery will reopen this weekend after being taken over by a new team.
Brother and sister duo Allan Cuthbert and Lynn Stevenson are set to give the much-loved neighbourhood bakery a new lease of life, after it was announced at the start of May its current owners were moving on to pastures new.
When the shutters came down on the Duke Street food spot at the end of May, Glasgow's eastenders were left fearing Sweet Jane would be no more.
However, this Saturday, June 25, the beautiful bakehouse will return, retaining the same name, look and feel - and even the same bread recipe, as well as a few new twists on the old Sweet Jane classics.

And the new team at the helm come with quite the credentials. Allan, who has just retired from the police force, used to work as a baker in Ayrshire, while his sister Lynn Stevenson owns the well-known S'mug Coffee Bar in Glasgow's west end, just off Byres Road.
Furthermore, they've hired a talented young baker, Lilly Blair, to complete the lineup.
With a soft re-launch of Sweet Jane on Friday before it fully re-opens to the public on Saturday, Allan told Glasgow Live he's excited to get going.
Explaining what locals can expect, he said: "We’ve just given it a facelift, but it’s pretty much the same. We’ve got a new display in the window, painted it and cleaned it.
"The bread recipe is going be exactly the same and we’ll be doing our own twist on the sweets and cakes, hopefully to people’s liking!
“Hopefully, beginning on Saturdays and Sundays, we’ll be doing takeaway coffee too."
And it seems the opportunity to take on Sweet Jane came at just the right time for Allan, who's keen to get back to his baking roots, with the Dennistoun venue having particular appeal.
He continued: "I’ve just retired out of the police. I was a baker 30 years ago in Ayrshire and I’ve always kept my hand in. Following my recent retirement, it’s all just come together and I’m really looking forward to it - excited and nervous, but hopefully it will be good!
"It’s quite novel that people can actually come in and see the bakery in operation. Most bakeries are out the way, but we’re actually there making products in full view of the public, which I think is quite novel and quite nice."
Meanwhile, it's hoped Glaswegians will start to see more Sweet Jane products across the city and further afield.
Allan added: "Sweet Jane cakes and bakes will be getting sold in S’mugs and we’ll be looking for more wholesalers, coffee shops and places like that, just whoever wants it can buy it!"
Initially, it's hoped the bakery will return from 8am 'til 4pm, although Allan says he is open to extending the hours if there's a desire for it.
