Former US House Speaker Dennis Hastert, the longest-serving Republican speaker in American history, has died at the age of 84 after serving time in federal prison in a hush-money case linked to allegations of sexual abuse. He died at his home in Illinois over the weekend, the Kendall County Coroner's Office said on Monday, 5 October.
