Denmark international Jonas Wind has admitted that a move to the Premier League and Arsenal would be his “dream" transfer.
The 23-year-old only joined Wolfsburg at the start of this year, having spent his entire professional career with FC Copenhagen. Since moving to the Bundesliga, he has five goals and an assist, although injuries have restricted his chances this term.
And while his full focus remains with the German club for the time being, the forward has revealed that in the future, playing in the English top-flight for the Gunners is one of his career ambitions.
“There was nothing concrete that I had to deal with,” he told Bulinews.com about transfer talks this past summer. “I’ve only been here for a bit more than a half year, and I’ve been happy with my time at the club so far, so I’m not thinking about a move away at all.
“But If we look into the future, Arsenal would be a dream destination for me, as it has always been my favourite club. In general, I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and it would be exciting to play there.
“But as I said, that’s not what I’m focusing on at the moment. I’m doing well here in Wolfsburg, it’s a good club for me, and the Bundesliga is a great league to play in. At the moment, I’m just focusing on my performances here, and then we’ll see if I’m good enough to take the next step sometime in the future.”
And while his numbers don’t leap off the page at the moment, Wind is confident that playing with better players will in turn improve his own game.
He added: “Because there’s a much higher tempo in the Bundesliga compared to the Superliga, I’ve had to lift the intensity of my own game to match that of my teammates and opponents. So I think I’ve improved in terms of tempo, both with and without the ball.
“You become a better player when you’re playing with good teammates and against good opponents and by getting pushed to the limit in training and in games.”
Wind isn’t the only one with aspirations of linking up with Mikel Arteta in North London. Shakhtar Donetsk starlet Mykhaylo Mudryk, who was on Arsenal’s radar this summer, has also suggested he would find it difficult to turn the Gunners down, should they make an approach.

A number of European giants are tracking the Ukraine international and his list of suitors only increased after a dazzling display in Shakhtar’s 4-1 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League. And while a move didn’t materialise during the most recent window, Mudryk, 21, has opened the door to a switch in the near future.
"In winter we will see. There were a lot of discussions about a transfer, about clubs who want me, but it’s normal,” he told CBS Sports in a revealing interview. "I think every guy dreams about the Premier League." And asked if Arsenal could be an option, he added: “Yes yes, it’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team. Very good coach, I like the way they play."
