Denise Welch’s son Matt Healy quit social media over the weekend and vowed to stop being an 'a***hole'.
The 34-year-old – who is the outspoken frontman of rock group The 1975 – is known for his rants on and off stage.
Just this year he came under fire for appearing to give a Nazi salute during a performance with the Manchester-based band.
One of his trademark stunts is eating raw meat on stage, which he did again during a gig in Leeds in January.
He is also known for kissing his legions of female fans - and recently hit the headlines for asking one woman for ID before giving her a 'first kiss'.
But it seems Matt is turning over a new leaf after suddenly deleting his social media account over the Bank Holiday, leaving fans baffled.
Giving some insight behind his decision during a gig in Adelaide, Australia on Monday night, he told fans his ‘a***hole era’ was over.
He went on to say he had quit Instagram because he just wants to be a ‘normal bloke’ once he steps off stage.
“It’s because everything happens in eras. The 1975 is a very eras band. The end of me being a f***ing a**hole is coming to an end,” he said, according to The Sun.
“I’ve had enough. I perform all the time and it’s my job. I love doing this but I can’t perform off the stage any more as I just want to be a bloke.”
Matt – the son of Loose Women star Denise and Benidorm actor Tim Healy – formed The 1975 20 years ago with bandmates Ross MacDonald, George Daniel and Adam Hann, who he met at school.
Their 2013 debut self-titled album shot to the top of the charts and included hits like ‘Sex’, ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Robbers’.
They have released four more albums since, including I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It in 2016.
A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships came out in 2018, followed by Notes on a Conditional Form in 2020 and their latest, Being Funny in a Foreign Language in 2022.
In October 2022, the band achieved the rare feat of having every one of their five albums reach Number 1.
Mum Denise, who split from Matt’s dad Tim in 2012, has said she is “so proud” of her eldest son.
She jetted to America to watch him perform on the coveted Saturday Night Live show in March.
Taking to Twitter to share the clip, the 64-year-old wrote: “Matty and the boys on @nbcsnl and we were there!!! Amazing night. So proud.”
Denise also shares 22-year-old son Louis with ex-husband Tim, who she was with for 24 years.
She has since gone on to marry her PR manager Lincoln Townley. They tied the knot in Portugal in July 2013.
