Denise Welch has 'girls trip' to Ireland to see son Matty Healy and 1975 as soap star joins her

Denise Welch went on a 'girls trip' to Ireland on Tuesday, with an ex Coronation Street star and TV legend among the friends who travelled with her to see son Matty Healy in action with The 1975.

The 1975 kicked off their latest tour at the start of the year, with Denise receiving a royal welcome from fans, as she attended opening night in Brighton, before famously posing backstage with Matty's now ex Taylor Swift at the London date. Always a very proud mam, Denise also came out of hiding on Celebrity Hunted, as she and husband Lincoln Townley went to Dundee to see The 1975 play Radio 1's One Big Weekend.

And on Tuesday, she and a group of girlfriends boarded a plane to see Matty and his bandmates in action at Cork's Musgrave Park. The group flew off on Tuesday morning and among those who joined Denise on the excursion were Angela Lonsdale, the Geordie actress best known for playing copper Emma in Corrie in the early 00s, as well as being a regular in Sunday for Sammy on home turf.

Angela recently made a return to soap land for a role in Hollyoaks and she wasn't the only well known face from TV who headed to Ireland. Another one of Denise's close pals, Jenny Powell was also there, Jenny being a regular face on television in the 90s on shows like Wheel of Fortune, No Limit and Gimme 5.

Denise shared a group shot of the women, together with Matty, on her Instagram grid on Tuesday evening and captioned it: 'Matty, mum and the aunties!!' to which Angela replied: "Awe darling you kindness knows no bounds. We are having the best time and so gorg to see you and the boys matty."

One of Denise's followers joked: "Do you have applications to join the fam?" with another reacting: "Now that's girl power right there!"
