Loose Women star Denise Welch vented her fury over Matt Hancock going on ITV I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! in an explosive episode of the lunchtime chat show. A fuming Denise addressed the former health secretary heading into the famous camp in Australia.
During Wednesday’s Loose Women panellists Denise, Jane Moore, Linda Robson and Paris Fury discussed the surprise news that the MP is joining the star-studded line-up on the ITV reality show. Former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actress Denise didn't hold back as she expressed her passionate views.
"I am fuming," she said. "Which won't surprise anybody but I am fuming and I am disgusted." Denise blasted the idea of Mr Hancock, who was health secretary at the centre of Britain's fight against COVID, as a shock addition to the jungle.

She said blasted: "I cannot find any humour in this appointment at all. As far as I am concerned we are still suffering the repercussions of what happened over the last few years."
Denise continued: "I was very vocal about Covid restrictions, some being incredibly unnecessary and the impact that would have on people’s lives, livelihoods and mental health, and Matt Hancock was at the forefront of those." And she said: "There were people not allowed to see their family for a year. It was illegal to get in your car and go an visit a loved one."
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the former health secretary had signed up for the long-running ITV programme, and subsequently suspended as a Conservative MP for West Suffolk as a result. It’s reported that the politician will be a late arrival to the Ant and Dec presented show alongside comedian Seann Walsh, to join the already announced members of the cast including singer Boy George former rugby player royal Mike Tindall, Love Island star Olivia Attwood and radio DJ Chris Moyles.
As Denise passionately made her case, she was told "we've not got long on this" by show anchor Jane. "He was at the forefront of this. He's not a celebrity. He was the health secretary of this country," said Denise.
And she was cheered and applauded by the audience as she told her co-stars: "I love the show, and I'm a huge viewer, but I'd go in there for nowt for ONE hour with Matt Hancock."
Jane pointed out: "He's a backbench MP now, he's no longer in the cabinet. His argument is that by going into the jungle he can connect with a younger audience, he can spread the word about dyslexia." But this was dismissed by Denise who retorted at Mr Hancock "oh shut up!"
Linda said: "I think he's in for a big shock. They're going to vote for him to do every trial. If he makes the mistake of saying he's frightened of anything god help him."
