TV presenter and actress Denise Van Outen is set to make an appearance on The Big Breakfast when the Channel 4 show returns in a reboot this weekend. The show is making a comeback to our televisions on Saturday mornings for four weeks after a successful one-off special back in 2021.
Comedian Mo Gilligan and TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu are returning to front the new mini-series - after hosting the live two-hour episode last year. Denise presented the show alongside Johnny Vaughan between 1997 and 2001 and is said to be making an appearance to hand over the reins to new presenters, the Daily Star reports.
The 48-year-old presenter, who is now a regular guest on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, teased her return to The Big Breakfast with her 672k followers on Instagram on Sunday night. She posted a story which featured a photograph of herself with the caption "I'm so excited to be joining @mothecomedian & @ajodudu 13th August."
Denise told The Sun: “I spent some of the happiest times of my career on The Big Breakfast and I’m so excited to be popping in to see the brilliant AJ and Mo for the first show of the new series. I can’t think of a better way to kick-start my Saturday.”
Comedian and Strictly 2021 contestant Judi Love will also be on the show, taking part in the On The Bed interview. Radio DJ's Melvin Odoom and Harriet Rose will be on the UK streets playing 'Hot Sausage' whilst newsreader Phil Gayle will return to deliver the latest morning headline. There will also be appearances from Bafta-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, singer Rita Ora, comedian Joel Dommett, rapper Aitch, and chef Big Has.
Speaking about the show's comeback, a source told The Sun: “There is still so much life left in the Big Breakfast formula, as AJ and Mo proved in 2021. Everyone at Channel 4 is really excited about what they can bring to the format.
“Having show legend Denise there to christen the new chapter is the icing on the cake — or should I say, the bacon on the bap.”
The Big Breakfast will start on Channel 4 on Saturday, August 13, from 10am and will continue for four weeks.
