Alex de Minaur's hopes of reaching the ATP Finals have taken a hit with the Australian slipping out of the list of leading eight players battling to reach the end-of-season men's championship.
Following Rafael Jodar's charge into the Shanghai Masters final, de Minaur has slipped to 10th -- effectively ninth with Jannik Sinner's season over because of injury -- in the ATP's 'Race to Turin' that determines the top-eight to play in Italy next month.
And in what may feel frustrating for 'Demon' as he seeks to make it to the big show for the third year running is that he now faces a fallow week in which he can't pick up critical Race points, while fellow contenders will be continuing to push their claims at ATP events in Lyon, Almaty and Brussels.
