Demolition work underway at former Nottingham city centre Argos store

Demolition work is underway at the former flagship Nottingham city centre Argos store after bosses confirmed the closure late last year. Argos left the site in Lower Parliament Street on January 15 - with the nearest store to the city now within the Sainsbury's superstore in Castle Boulevard.

Pictures from the area show the former Argos store entirely boarded up and no sign of the Argos logo which hung from the building for years. A sign reads "Danger Demolition Keep Out."

In 2021, plans were approved to create a 10-storey student block of flats in the building occupied by Argos. The plan will lead to the creation of 275 student beds above the shop.
