Gerry Connolly in his bid to lead the chamber's Oversight Committee in the upcoming Congress. This endorsement comes as Connolly faces a challenge from progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for the leadership position.
With 110 center-left House Democrats in its ranks, the New Democrat Coalition's endorsement of Connolly is a significant development in the race for the Oversight committee leadership. In order to secure the endorsement, Connolly needed the support of at least two-thirds of the group.
