Delve deeper into the biggest issues on Merseyside with The Liverpool Daily Post newsletter

The Liverpool ECHO is launching a brand new newsletter which will be delving deep into the biggest stories from across the city region.

The Liverpool Daily Post, which was our sister newspaper title, was known for drawing together the city’s news, comment, culture and sport before printing its final issue over a decade ago.

The brand new Liverpool Daily Post email newsletter will aim to continue its legacy by joining the conversation and stories that drive our great city and our brilliant city region forward.

Starting today, the free newsletter will be sent everyday of the week to subscribers and will take a wider look at the biggest and most important issues facing Liverpool and the wider region, keeping a close eye on the city's lively political scene - and also analysing how we are affected by decisions taken elsewhere.

The Liverpool Daily Post newsletter will also aim to paint a real time, accurate picture of what makes this city and this region the way it is - focussing on its characters, challenges and those smaller details that say so much about a modern and changing Liverpool.

The newsletter will feature a more curated and refined selection of contemporary news, features, comment and sport produced by the Liverpool ECHO’s team of journalists.

It will also feature exclusive content and analysis for subscribers looking closer at the biggest issues of the day.

The Liverpool ECHO has a proud history of investigations and campaigning journalism which still forms the core part of its contemporary reporting.

The Liverpool Daily Post newsletter will be the best place to easily access this all in one place.

This will include long read investigations, like those that tracked the 12 months since Liverpool's political landscape was flipped upside down following the arrest of former Mayor Joe Anderson.

Or the extensive, hour by hour reporting of when the city was rocked by an attempted terror attack at Liverpool Women's Hospital on remembrance Sunday.

The newsletter will show where the ECHO is at heart of the biggest social issues hitting the city, platforming the injustices of the cost of living crisis and how those in some the most deprived areas of the country are desperately crying out for help.

The Liverpool Daily Post will also bring readers up close to an ever-changing city, from t roubled housing estates blowing up on TikTok to the hopes and dreams of those living in the shadow of an abandoned 'dream factory'.

The newsletter will also draw together the reporting that looks deeper into issues such as city's planning, redevelopment and the obstacles it faces, as well as highlighting the first person stories of those who've seen their investments and livelihoods descend into a nightmare.

And most of all, it will show off all aspects of a modern and changing Liverpool with the help of the ECHO's talented team of photographers.

The Liverpool Daily Post will be predominantly written by Elliot Ryder, the ECHO’s regeneration reporter covering stories across redevelopment, culture, tourism, politics and social issues.

The newsletter will also, on occasion, be written by Liam Thorp, the ECHO's award-winning political editor.

Liverpool Echo editor Maria Breslin said: “We’ve been sending newsletters to tens of thousands of readers for many years now and we know our loyal audience loves consuming our news, what’s on and sports content through these daily emails.

“Today we’re proud to announce our latest offering, the Liverpool Daily Post which we believe is the perfect place to showcase the very many in-depth and authoritative articles we publish each day on the Liverpool Echo.

“I expect it to quickly become an essential read for everyone who lives and works in Liverpool and loves our great city and our brilliant city region.

“As we return to some sort of normal, coverage of Liverpool’s ongoing regeneration, its changing political landscape and the long-awaited reawakening of our thriving cultural scene will be key to our news agenda.

“The content mix reminds me very much of our late sister title the Liverpool Daily Post and we felt naming our latest newsletter after that much-cherished publication perfectly matched our ambitions.

“The Liverpool Daily Post’s author Elliot Ryder is a real rising star with an inquisitive mind and a great writing style. I’m very much looking forward to reading his analysis of the real talking points of the day.”
