Delta Air Lines has announced a change in its employee uniform policy in response to a recent incident involving flight attendants wearing Palestinian pins. The controversy arose after a passenger expressed outrage over the pins, describing them as 'Hamas badges' in a social media post.

As a result of the backlash, Delta has decided to prohibit its employees from wearing pins representing any country or nationality other than the United States. This new rule is set to go into effect on Monday.

In a statement, the Atlanta-based airline emphasized its commitment to diversity and inclusivity, stating, 'We are proud of our diverse base of employees and customers and the foundation of our brand, which is to connect the world and provide a premium experience. We are taking this step to help ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all.'

The incident underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has sparked protests and debates on various platforms, including college campuses.

Prior to the policy change, Delta had allowed employees more flexibility with uniform accessories. However, the airline's decision to revise its guidelines comes in light of the recent controversy.

Following the initial social media post criticizing the flight attendants, another Delta employee further escalated the situation by suggesting that the wearing of Palestinian pins violated company rules. This comment, which has since been deleted, was captured in a screenshot shared by the American Muslim rights group CAIR National.

Delta has taken action in response to this incident, stating that the employee responsible for the controversial post has been removed from handling social media communications. The airline also issued an apology as part of its response to the situation.

Delta's policy update reflects its ongoing efforts to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for both employees and passengers. By implementing these changes, the airline aims to ensure a positive and welcoming experience for everyone on board its flights.
