There isn’t a lot to love about the Hornets this season but they recently did something interesting: They traded for Seth Curry.
Seth, whose older brother Stephen Curry is the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, also has a father who played in the league. Dell Curry also has had impressive accolades, ranking second all-time for points scored in franchise history for the Hornets.
Although we initially considered Seth a potential buyout candidate for contenders after the trade, something much cooler happened. Charlotte instead opted to keep him on their roster (at least for now) and Seth played his first game for the Hornets on Feb. 10.
He wore No. 30, which is the same number that Dell wore in Charlotte.

Dell currently works as a broadcaster for the Hornets and when his son was traded to Charlotte, he described it as a “dream come true” as a dad. Dell said he had not stopped smiling.
Seth played nearly 20 minutes and connected on a 3-pointer during a victory over the Grizzlies. During the broadcast, Dell said: “Line it up, son, hold the follow through … welcome home!” as the 3-pointer connected.
The guard, who was born in Charlotte and played college basketball nearby at Duke, said that he “always dreamed” about playing for the franchise and wearing that jersey. He said that he never asked “permission” from Dell if he could wear the number.
But he also said he got to watch the Super Bowl with his father (as well as other family and friends) now that they live in the same city again.
The Big Diesel Meets T-Swizzle
A ton of celebrities attended Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas and two of the most famous people there were Shaquille O’Neal and Taylor Swift.
Before the game, Shaq made it clear that he wanted to meet Swift:
“Shaquille O’Neal had one mission for Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas, to meet Taylor Swift, and he accomplished it.
O’Neal, a four-time NBA champion, was one of many celebrities who watched live as Patrick Mahomes won his third championship in the NFL. But the highlight of the night for the big man was probably when he had his chance to interact with Swift, the pop star and global sensation who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Before the game began, O’Neal told reporters he wanted to sit near Swift and planned to meet the singer for the first time so that he could “shake the hand” of greatness (via Page Six).”
Unfortunately, when he first tried to visit Swift, he was denied entry.
But with some help from Jason Kelce, he was eventually able to “finally” meet the singer-songwriter and gift her a very cool custom bag.
