Nottinghamshire residents are "delighted" at the success of a village pub that re-opened after being closed for almost a decade. The Fox at Kirton re-opened in March 2022 after being closed for more than eight years.
Dave Carter and his son James Carter bought the pub in 2016 and refurbished the entire building. Kirton residents are pleased to see the pub reopen and many claim that it is now the hub of the community.
The newly refurbished pub is open Wednesdays to Sundays, and locals have praised its monthly live music events and Wednesday nights when a different type of food is offered each week.

Sales manager Dave Surgery, 44, lives opposite the pub is pleased to see the Fox at Kirton open again, which he says "is literally on my door step."
Dave said: "There's not anything else really in Kirton, there's not a shop or post office or anything like that. Apart from the church there's nothing really else for people to come together in.
"I think the inside there has been done really nice and decorated well." Heald Richard, 51, has lived in the village 25 years. When asked if he was happy to see the pub reopen, he said: "Yeah definitely, it's amazing.
"It's nice to bring everyone in the village together, which is something that the village was lacking." Retired couple, Gala Middleton, 74 and John Middleton, 75, have lived in the village for 42 years.
Gala said: "We've not been that many times, but we are really pleased it opened as there is nowhere in the village that people can meet. They respond to suggestions so the are evolving.
John added: "They have taken on board suggestions for things like lunch and smaller portions. We are really delighted that it is open again."
Gala explained that previous pub owners have done a lot for the community and hopes the new owners will do the same. She said: "It's looks as though that is going to be the same way."
A Kirton resident who did not wish to be named said: "We bought our house before it was open, we moved to the village in the hopes they were opening. A pub in the village is central hub and we wanted a village with a hub.
The 53 year old added: "It's lovely, just fantastic. It's early days, they are trying to organise events and stuff, and they are doing different things on Wednesdays."
A Kirton resident who did not wish to be named has lived in the village for more than 40 years. She said: "I've been a couple of times and it's nice to be able to mix in the village.
"It was such a long while it was closed, It's nice to have it back open."
Retired June Nunn, 86, lives in Kirton with her husband. She said: "We do like to go for a drink and I think it's the only building in the village that people can get to apart from the church.
"I know a lot of my church goers go to it at tea time." June used to visit the pub when it was owned by previous owners, and said: "We should keep supporting it, we always used to call in and have a drink."
Retired, Tony Firth and Anne Firth, both 83, have lived in the village for 20 years. When asked what she thought of the refurbished pub, Anne said: "I think it's nice now, it's beautiful, he's put a lot of money into it."
Tony added: "We've been four or five times." He explained that when they first went it was very busy and staff were still learning, but it "has improved since then".
