Sam is a former employee at the pub and his talents were first uncovered there. Following his award at the 2019 Brits for the critics' choice rising star, he donated the trophy to the pub to act as a quirky beer pump - and has pledged that his second award will do the same.
Footage on social media showed the popular star arrive at the pub and declare he was ready to party - despite appearing not to have stopped since The Brits.
Local man Sol Kosepinar was one of the many to greet him on his arrival and described the evening.
He said: "It was a great atmosphere. He was really nice to people, taking pictures and everything. It was a good night.
"We had a bit chat - he was very happy because he won his award, very happy. He was having a time, enjoying himself and his family were there too as well as lots of fans.
"He comes across really well - he has a good attitude towards people."
Sam was up for three awards at the Brits 2022, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Rock/Alternative, with him triumphing in the latter, beating acts like Coldplay and Tom Grennan to emerge victorious.
It was the job of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood to present Sam with his award as the 27-year-old and his bandmates looked delighted at their victory.
After accepting his award from Rolling Stone icon Ronnie Wood, Sam thanked his fans, his manager, Owain, who spotted him performing at Low Lights Tavern.
Giving his acceptance speech, Sam said: "I'm going to completely screw this whole thing up. I had a plan and I forgot it, so I'm just going to say thanks to the fans, 'cos it was fan voted. You guys are the best."
He continued: "Thank you to Owain, my manager. Thanks for walking into that pub 10 years ago and believing in it. Thanks to the team. Thanks to everyone back in Shields."
