People in a part of Nottingham have welcomed plans to open a new takeaway on their high street. Shoppers in Sherwood have spoken out about a new takeaway coming to the area.
Next to the former gallery, A Room Full of Butterflies - which has now closed down, people are pleased to see another shop opening after ‘a handful of closures.’The shop on 634 Mansfield Road is called ‘Chick and Shakes.’
The Chick and Shakes website states that the shop will be open seve ndays a week and will be open all day and all night. It isn’t clear when the shop will open but the Instagram page for the shop says you'd expect to find ‘Original Handmade Crispy Chicken’ there.

Cameron Hall, 26 lives in Sherwood. The software developer said: “I’m not surprised it’s a takeaway, hopefully it’ll do well.
“Sherwood’s full of takeaways and coffee shops which people always complain about but I quite like it and what else would replace them? There’s no point there being a shoe shop when once you’ve bought one or two pairs, you never go back, whether people like to admit it or not if you can afford it, takeaways are always an option.”
Other shops that have closed on Sherwood’s high street recently include: Ohannes Burger, Mr Thai and O’More. Sue Brown, 44 lives in Carrington.
The sales assistant said: “I think the shop will go down well with the kids after school, especially if the prices are cheap. My son and his friends always find somewhere to spend their money after school in Sherwood.”
Sue added: “There’s been a handful of closures in Sherwood so hopefully they’re all back up and running soon.”
In December 2022, it was also announced that ‘popular’ café, Cafe PAS MAMA would also be closing down . Lily Rose, 21 is from Sherwood. The student said: “I think when a shop closes in Sherwood, it’s pretty obvious what it will be: charity shop, craft shop, takeaway or coffee shop but they all seem to do well and people support them.
“I think that this place will do well, you look at all the chicken shops in town and they all always seem to be full whether it be the bigger chains or independents.”
