Delhi: Youth’s throat slit by manjha, rescued by Good Samaritan

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old youth whose throat was partially slit by a kite string in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri on Sunday evening was saved by doctors after being rushed to hospital by a Good Samaritan. The victim, Abhinav, is still in ICU, but his condition is said to be stable.

Police have felicitated the youth, Danish, who had rushed the victim to the hospital, and rewarded him. Danish works with an e-commerce company as a Japanese language translator.

Abhinav, who is preparing for MBA entrance, was heading home on his bike around 6.30pm when the kite string slashed his throat partially. He fell off the bike and began to bleed profusely.

The police control room got a call around 6.49pm and the caller said he had found a man with his throat slit near the Jagatpuri police station and taken him to hospital. Police reached the spot and found the bike and some blood on the road. Danish had already taken Abhinav to Max Hospital, Patparganj. An FIR was subsequently registered.

Police got to know that Danish had found Abhinav bleeding on the road and rushed to help. Danish picked him up, stopped an auto and rushed him to the hospital. Abhinav lost a lot of blood, but the timely intervention helped the doctors save his life by conducting a surgery.

Abhinav has completed BCom and has been preparing for an MBA. He was returning home from Connaught Place after attending his coaching classes.

“Danish’s efforts are highly appreciated and the patient is under treatment at Max Hospital, Patparganj,” DCP (Shahdara) Sathiyasundaram said.
