Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has declared the seventh edition of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2022.
There are a total of 11 categories under which the Indian universities will be ranked. The announcement was made for overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research category.
In the overall category, IIT Madras is followed by IISc Bengaluru at second spot while IIT Bombay has been ranked third.
Under university category, IISc topped the list, followed by JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, West Bengal's Jadavpur University, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. Among the pharmacy institutions, Jamia Hamdard bagged the top rank, followed by The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad and Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Five out of ten best colleges in the category are from Delhi with Miranda House topping the chart. Hindu College has bagged the second rank while Presidency College in Chennai is at the third spot.

The NIRF ranking is given on the basis of five parameters – teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practices (RPC), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), and perception.
