NEW DELHI: There is consternation among students about Delhi University directing those aspiring to get admission to sit only for those subjects they cleared in Class XII when appearing for the Common University Entrance Test. The students say the UGC notification allows students to appear for as many as six domain specific subjects and one language in CUET and DU’s restriction is, therefore, not reasonable.
The students argue that while they wrote exams in only four subjects, including English, for the Class XII board exam, UGC had given them the opportunity to sit for nine papers, including the aptitude test. This is a problem for aspirants who want to change streams in college, a shortcoming that the teachers had flagged at the meeting of DU’s Academic Council that approved the guidelines.
