NEW DELHI: There was quite a ruckus at Dabri police station on Friday when a group of transgenders gathered there in protest after a 20-year-old fellow resident of the shelter home was taken away by cops from the Badalpur police station in Noida. Later, the group alleged that police misbehaved with them and beat them up. The cops countered by saying they had disrobed themselves and abused the police personnel.
The Union ministry of social justice and empowerment, which runs the Garima Greh shelter homes at 12 locations in different states, rushed a team to the home in Delhi where the transgenders were living and have asked for a report.
