Delhi: Finish flyover repair in time, says Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI: Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the charge of the Public Works Department, has approved the repair work of three more flyovers on Saturday.

According to a statement from the PWD minister, the three flyovers added to the list are Nangloi flyover, Hanuman Setu flyover and Mayapuri flyover.

Sisodia held a review meeting with officials on the maintenance works of flyovers in Delhi and asked the department to speed up work so as not to put the public in inconvenience.

"There should not be any delay on the PWD's part to carry out the maintenance work. Officials should focus on removing the bottlenecks that cause traffic jams and restrict the smooth movement of the commuters," directed the PWD minister.

The minister specifically asked the officials about the regular maintenance measures being taken for the flyovers spread all over the capital.

"The deputy CM strictly directed the officials to promptly carry out flyovers' maintenance work so that commuters do not face any inconvenience," said the statement from the government.

The department is carrying out work on six main flyovers with the cost of this entire project is Rs 52.35 crore, along with the three new ones added to the list.

"Notably, the flyovers of Delhi are regularly maintained by the PWD. However, due to excessive traffic pressure, minor drawbacks occur in flyovers which is maintained by the repair unit," added the statement.
