NEW DELHI: Four days after two labourers died as an under-renovation house collapsed in south Delhi’s Satya Niketan, Delhi Police on Thursday arrested the contractor who had employed the men.
The contractor, Mohammad Raees, was on the run and was arrested from Bihar’s Araria district, senior officers said. Raees, 46, had hired seven workers to renovate the house on April 25.
The concrete roof of the house collapsed on the workers leaving them all trapped. Following two hours of rescue operation, all seven were pulled out and rushed to hospital. Two of them, however, succumbed.
