Delhi: Bail granted to hotelier who denied room to Kashmiri

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has granted bail to a hotel owner accused of denying a room to a guest from Kashmir.

While granting bail to the accused, Rakesh Kumar, who owns an OYO hotel in Jahangirpuri, additional sessions judge Shivaji Anand said there was no need for police custody. The court also noted that CCTV footage of the incident was with the police.

Advocate Pardeep Khatri, appearing for Kumar, had submitted that the accused had been falsely implicated and the accusation was made with a dishonest motive.

The complainant had done an online booking from the OYO app for March 22, 2022, which was duly confirmed by the OYO and when the complainant came for the check-in on the date of the incident, he was informed that all the rooms except one were occupied by the guests and is the only room which was available, there was a fault with the air conditioning system, Khatri argued.

Police had opposed the bail application, saying that in the footage, the complainant can be seen entering the reception counter on May 22.
