NEW DELHI: Four men were arrested for allegedly stabbing and thrashing a youth and his 66-year-old grandmother following an argument in south Delhi's Mehrauli on Monday night. The woman was unable to sleep as 5-6 men were creating a nuisance outside. When she complained, they started fighting with her.
Efforts were on to arrest two absconding accused, said a senior police officer. The arrested persons are Amar, Kaku, Ravinder and Vishal. The absconding duo is Nand Kishore and Nand Lal.
Early on Tuesday, a call was received at Mehrauli police station reporting that a youth and an elderly woman had been stabbed. A police team found that the injured youth, Karan (22), and his grandmother, Murti Devi (66), residents of ward number 2 in Mehrauli, had been rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
“Karan told the cops that around 11.30pm on Monday, two men, Sundar and Ravinder, were shouting and using abusive language in front of his house. The men refused to stay quiet despite his grandmother’s requests. A scuffle broke out between Karan and the two men. Karan then called his friends and family members after which the duo left,” said the officer.
Later, Sunder returned to Karan’s house with Ravinder, Amar, Nand Kishore, Nand Lal and Vishal. “Sundar was carrying a knife, while Ravinder was holding a stick. They then stabbed and thrashed Karan and his grandmother,” the officer said.
DCP (South) Benita Mary Jaiker said a case of attempt to murder was registered and the four men were arrested.
