YouTube star Deji has been warned by Jeff Mayweather that he will need his nephew Floyd to "carry" the YouTuber if their exhibition bout is to go the distance.
The social media sensation picked up his first win in four boxing efforts at the end of August, and less than three weeks later found himself and his team deep in talks for a fight with the greatest boxer of all time. Mirror Fighting reported last week that Deji and Mayweather will square off on November 13 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai under the Global Titans Fight Series banner.
The promotion have since confirmed that they will be hosting an event on that date, with Mayweather Promotions also involved, but the bout has yet to be announced. The boxing legend will compete in an exhibition with MMA star Mikuru Asakura on Saturday in Japan, with the Deji fight likely to be confirmed some time later.
Even his own uncle was surprised when the bout came to fruition, questioning why he would choose Deji over his older brother KSI, who is more established in boxing with four wins to his name and a draw. He also believes that for the Brit to stay upright over the six-eight rounds, he will need to be carried through the fight by Mayweather.
"Any fight that Floyd's in is big," Jeff told FightHype. "I mean, it's funny because some guy reached out to me on social media and he said 'is your nephew fighting Deji?' I said 'I don't think so,' and I was surprised to hear it because I didn't think Deji was big enough. If you're going to fight Deji, why not fight KSI instead?

"That makes more sense and that gets you a whole bunch more fans, KSI is just like the Paul brothers so basically you're getting one of the ultimate guys in YouTube. But Deji's his brother. I think Floyd will have to carry Deji for the fight to end with both guys standing on their feet. I think if Floyd really goes after him he'd really be in trouble."
The YouTube star has remained silent on social media since news of the event broke last week, and it is believed that a fight announcement is imminent. First, Mayweather must get through his Rizin challenge this weekend, but then things will move quickly toward the November 13 date.
Deji made his boxing debut in a white collar matchup with Jake Paul back in 2018, losing by fifth round stoppage. He returned last year to face male model Vinnie Hacker and was finished in the third, before changing up his training and facing Alex Wassabi in March. That loss was a split decision, and with a full camp under coach Daley Perales, he stopped Yusef 'Fousey' Erakat last month.
