During the latest episode of Chad Johnson’s and Shannon Sharpe’s Night Cap podcast, the former All-Pro wideout pitched himself as a possible assistant to Deion Sanders’s Colorado staff only to get brutally rejected.
Sanders joked and said he’d make Johnson a coach, but not a “coach coach” and added, “I don’t trust you yet.” Johnson didn’t let it go and continued to make his case. But again, Sanders had to shut him down—along with Sharpe when he tried to get a job as well.
“I know you dogs. No,” Sanders said. “Cus I know you ain’t gon’ do right. I know you ain’t gon’ do right. And you selfish.”
Neither former star player disputed anything Sanders said.
It was all in good fun, but it seems apparent that the Buffaloes coach is happy with his current staff, and he chirped how well his team has been recruiting.
Colorado will need all the help it can get after finishing at the bottom of the Pac-12 in 2023 with a 4–8 record, winning just one conference game in the process.
