Defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth recently faced questions regarding a new report that outlined additional misconduct allegations against him. During a meeting with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Hegseth was asked about a report detailing his departure as the head of two veterans' advocacy organizations due to internal allegations of mismanagement and personal misconduct. However, Hegseth chose not to respond to the question and remained silent as he entered a meeting with Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan.
Senator Sullivan had expressed his intention to inquire about the allegations during the meeting with Hegseth. The allegations stem from a whistleblower report that was obtained, which claimed that while leading one of the nonprofit advocacy groups, Hegseth was frequently intoxicated at work events and gatherings with staff. The report also alleged that he engaged in inappropriate behavior by sexually pursuing female staffers and that the organization failed to address another staffer's alleged sexual misconduct.
