Defending US Open Men's Doubles Champions Eliminated In Third Round.

Ram and Salisbury's 20-match winning streak at US Open ends.

Three-time defending US Open men's doubles champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury were eliminated in the third round by the 13th-seeded American duo of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow on Monday. Ram, hailing from the U.S., and Salisbury, representing Britain, had an impressive streak of 20 consecutive wins at Flushing Meadows. Despite being seeded third this year, they were unable to secure a victory.

Last year, Ram and Salisbury made history by becoming the first men to clinch three consecutive US Open doubles titles since Americans Tom Bundy and Maurice McLoughlin achieved the feat from 1912-1914. Their unexpected defeat marks the end of their remarkable run at the tournament.

In the upcoming quarterfinals, Lammons and Withrow will face off against the 11th-seeded pair of Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic. Koolhof and Mektic, who were the last team to defeat Ram and Salisbury at the US Open, emerged victorious in the semifinals in 2020. The stage is set for an exciting matchup between these talented doubles teams as they vie for a spot in the next round of the prestigious tournament.
