A HMYOPI Deerbolt inmate squirted a urine-filled Lynx bottle in the face of a female prison officer, later claiming he did it for "20 boxes of vapes".
Daniel Best was serving a 40 month sentence at the Young Offenders' Institution in County Durham when he carried out the offence. The 21-year-old was nine-months into his sentence when he squirted a mixture of urine and orange juice in the face of a female prison guard on October 24, last year.
When Best was later asked why he did it, he claimed he'd been paid "20 boxes of vapes", but a couple of months later told police he'd been threatened into doing it by two other inmates who he went on to name. Best later wrote a letter of apology to the prison guard, who had been left "humiliated" by the incident.
