Shock figures have revealed a 60% rise in prison custody deaths in a single year.
The number of deaths has more than doubled since 2015 - leading to calls for action to prevent the tragedies.
There have been a number of high profile Scottish prisons death in recent years including the death of 21-year-old Katie Allan at Polmont Young Offenders Institute in 2018, and the death of Allan Marshall in 2015 after he was restrained by prison officers during a struggle at Saughton Prison.
