Death Valley, known for its extreme arid conditions, has recently become the site of a peculiar phenomenon - the emergence of a new lake that is steadily increasing in depth. This unexpected occurrence was triggered by unusual weather patterns in 2023, particularly heavy rainfall during Hurricane Hilary, which led to the formation of a sizable lake within the national park.
Initially, the lake appeared to be receding after reaching dimensions of seven miles in length and four miles in width. However, contrary to expectations, the water levels have been on the rise once again. The primary cause of this phenomenon is attributed to condensed water vapor, known as an atmospheric river, which transforms into intense rainfall upon contact with the land.
