The latest fatality was reported in Polk County, Florida, where an 83-year-old man, suffering from late-stage Alzheimer's disease, a heart condition, and poor circulation, was found deceased in floodwaters behind his residence.
The victim, identified as Marco Grillo of Lakeland, had wandered away from his home the night before and was discovered by authorities floating in the flooded area. Due to the severe flooding, the rescue operation required the assistance of the aviation unit to guide deputies on an airboat to reach Mr. Grillo.
