Death of devoted dad is 'a pain no family should go through'

A family have been left with a "pain no family should go through" after their devoted dad was killed in a car crash.

Sean Coffey, 55, sustained serious injuries after a crash involving two cars in Ellesmere Port. Despite the efforts of paramedics the dad-of-two died at the scene, at the junction of Smithy Lane and the A41 Chester Road after 6.20pm.

Now, Sean's wife, Zoe, and his two sons are urging anyone who might have any information on the incident to get in touch with police. A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of the "funny, kind and generous" dad, by a family friend.

The GoFundMe appeal was launched by a family friend and has raised nearly £3,000 towards its £4,000 target, reports Cheshire Live. Sean's devastated family described him as a "devoted dad and family man."

A poignant message on the the GoFundMe appeal states: "On New Year's Eve, Sean was tragically and suddenly killed in a road traffic accident, leaving Zoe and their two boys reeling. Sean was well known and loved around the Little Sutton area and always had a smile for people.

"It’s a pain that no family should go through. Not only are they dealing with their grief and trying to make sense of it all, they are faced with trying to find money for the funeral costs.

"Even the simplest service is more than we could have expected. Times are so, so hard for everyone at the moment and we cannot comprehend all the kind words, messages and floral tributes that have been laid.

Police said all parties involved stopped at the scene following the incident. Sean's family urge anyone with any information on the incident is to contact Cheshire Police by calling 101 and quoting IML1446529 or visit cheshire.police.uk/tell-us.

"I am just asking if you can give anything, just a small amount, it will all add up and take some pressure off the family at the moment. Thank you so much for reading this and please share.

"And finally, give the ones you love a hug as much as you can. We never know when it will be our last x."
