The Tennessee Titans made headlines in late October when they traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs. Some in the fan base criticized this move at the time.
The Titans received a conditional fifth-round selection for Hopkins, but the pick means very little to the fans who strongly support him. Hopkins not only made an impact on the field, but he also played a huge role in the community and became a beloved figure around town.
Nashville also impacted Hopkins, and he let the world know how much he appreciated his time with the Titans with a tremendous tribute after his first touchdown with the Chiefs on Monday Night Football.
It was a shout to Tennessee, if u know me u know it’s nothing but love for Nashville. Ran and his crew are like family. Without them, I wouldn’t be here. https://t.co/6YqEZlXyn5

“I’ve got to thank Ran and his staff for trading me to a contender, first of all, because those guys could’ve traded me anywhere,” Hopkins told reporters after the game.
He followed that statement with a tweet that makes it clear how much he enjoyed his time with Tennessee.
Like it or not, the Titans did the right thing by trading Hopkins, who was in the last year of his contract, to a contender. While it may not make sense to the fans by helping the defending Super Bowl Champions, it makes sense for Hopkins and the Titans will be better off in the end for helping him potentially get that championship.
