DeAndre Hopkins’ ‘Buffalo Soldier’ Instagram post had NFL fans thinking he’d been traded to the Bills

There are no two ways about it: the Buffalo Bills need to give Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs some help. Buffalo cannot afford to enter the 2023 season with Diggs as the only legitimate receiving option for one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.

Enter the superstar DeAndre Hopkins.

Recent days have connected the Arizona Cardinal to various trades, but the heat seems to be most specifically localized to Buffalo. Given that the Bills are all in on a championship and need another veteran playmaker, the fit somehow almost makes too much sense.

(And might Ed Oliver be sent back in a deal?)

While it’s not a 100 percent certainty, a recent post on Hopkins’ Instagram where he references the Bob Marley song “Buffalo Soldier” might have been linked to a pending Bills trade:

Star NFL receivers are notoriously cryptic, so Hopkins referencing a Bob Marley melody could just be coincidental. But the lyrics from the short sequence Hopkins shares are “said it was a Buffalo Soldier, dreadlocked rasta.”

Meanwhile, Hopkins writes, “he” was a Buffalo Soldier. Hmm. That seems like it was on purpose!

NFL fans similarly thought a Bills trade for Hopkins was imminent with his Instagram update.
