Dealz has announced that it will recruit 1,200 temporary seasonal staff for the festive period.
The bargain retailer confirmed its plans to take on the workers in roles across the UK and Ireland in the run-up to this Christmas.
It said the temporary shop floor roles would end on Christmas Eve, though some colleagues may be taken on permanently where roles are available.

Simon Wells, Poundland & Dealz’ people director, said: “The extra recruits will help us make sure that our stores are great places to work and shop at the busiest time of year.”
In addition to Christmas Day, Poundland confirmed it had told its colleagues back in September that for the third year in a row, all its stores would be closed on St. Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day to give colleagues a well-deserved break.
Customers can check their local store opening times over the Christmas period on the Poundland website at Store finder.
As a thank-you to all 18,000 members of the Poundland and Dealz team for all their hard work, they will each receive a €30 voucher in the Republic of Ireland to spend in-store between December and January, and their regular colleague discount will double from 10 per cent to 20 per cent during November.
“We really appreciate how hard colleagues work during the year and are closing the stores on the extra days over Christmas and New Year so they enjoy a well-deserved break with friends and family,” added Mr Wells.
“The vouchers and extra discounts are our way of saying thank-you and we know they’ll be appreciated.”
Since opening its first store in Burton-upon-Trent in 1990, Poundland has built a network of over 850 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, offering top brands and quality own-brand products that provide customers with amazing value every day.
Nominated by Retail Week as Value Discounter of the Year 2019, it now has around 18,000 workers who serve over seven million customers every week.
