A Melbourne man accused of killing of his wife over the weekend has been remanded in custody.
Adam Brown, 40, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates' Court where he has been charged with murder over an alleged incident at Croydon North, in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs.
Mr Brown is a senior lecturer in digital media at Deakin University and is a prolific user of social media.
Police were called to a house at Patrick Avenue on Saturday night, where they found the body of a 35-year-old woman, who died at the scene.
Mr Brown appeared in court from the Melbourne West police station with what appeared to be an injury to his left arm.
He spoke sparingly, only confirming that he could hear the magistrate.
His defence lawyer, Nick Tehan, told the court that it was his client's first time in custody.
The police officer who charged him, Detective Senior Constable David Martin-Alcaide, asked Magistrate Olivia Trumble not to release the name of the dead woman.
"Family in China has been notified, however … there's also family in Sydney," the detective said.
Mr Brown was remanded in custody and will return to court in September.
