Deadpool and Wolverine's Cassandra Nova actor would "absolutely" return, but their comeback idea is unexpected: "A sibling comedy like Step Brothers"

Cassandra Nova in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Marvel actors are often asked about returning to the MCU, even if their character is dead. Outside of a few generic responses, we rarely hear anything that makes our ears prick up. Until now, that is.

One villain fatality – that of Deadpool and Wolverine's Cassandra Nova – has provided the platform for one of the most unexpectedly brilliant ideas from actor Emma Corrin.

“I absolutely would [return], 100%. I think her story’s not over," Corrin told Variety.

Then, the killer pitch: "I would like to see a Professor X and Cassandra Nova bonding film – a sibling comedy like Step Brothers. Make it happen! Internet, do your thing!"

As alluded to in the third Deadpool movie, Cassandra is Charles Xavier's evil twin sister – and has had a long, storied history of trying to one-up her sibling in the pages of Marvel's comics. Most notably, that includes switching bodies with Charles during Grant Morrison's seminal New X-Men run in the early 2000s.

And if you haven't seen Step Brothers, you're missing out. Starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as warring stepbrothers, the 2008 release is regarded as one of the best American comedies of the past 20 years.

So, seeing Professor X and Cassandra Nova sharing bunk beds would sure be something. At the very least, it would make for a perfect B-plot should Deadpool and Wolverine receive a follow-up. After all, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has been open about not wanting to be the star attraction should his character return.

Next up for a version of Professor X in the MCU is Patrick Stewart reprising his X-Men role once more in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Ian McKellen as Magneto and a whole host of legacy X-Men actors.
