Queensland has had a deadly start to the Christmas long weekend on the state's roads after two deaths and a serious crash.

An 18-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash in Ambrose, about 30km from Gladstone, on Friday evening.

Police believe his car, carrying passengers, was travelling along the Bruce Highway when it veered off the road and rolled near Gentle Annie Road about 6.30pm.

The Toolooa man behind the wheel sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

A 17-year-old Toolooa boy and a 19-year-old South Gladstone man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were rushed to Gladstone Hospital.

Hours later a 27-year-old man died after his motorbike crashed into a pole in Ashgrove in Brisbane's northwest on Saturday morning.

Initial investigations indicated the man's bike was travelling along Waterworks Road shortly after midnight when it careened off the road and smashed into a pole.

The Ashgrove man sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

Queensland's forensic crash unit is also investigating a serious two-vehicle collision involving a scooter rider in Lawnton, north of Brisbane, on Friday evening.

A 28-year-old man riding the scooter was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital after sustaining critical injuries from the accident.

Police believe a scooter and a car collided at the corner of Gympie Road and Lawnton Pocket Road about 7.30pm.

The car driver was not injured and is assisting police with inquiries.

Investigations into all three incidents are continuing and police are asking for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the incidents to contact police.
