
Residents of Wayanad, India, are reeling from the aftermath of multiple landslides that have claimed the lives of at least 201 people and left nearly 200 others missing. The landslides, triggered by heavy rains in the hills of Wayanad district, sent torrents of mud, floodwater, and massive boulders crashing down into downhill villages, burying homes and sweeping away everything in their path.
The disaster has left a trail of destruction, with hundreds of houses flattened, roads and bridges destroyed, and families torn apart as they frantically search for their loved ones. Rescue workers have been tirelessly combing through the debris, recovering bodies, and identifying victims.
