Sandon Smith would have a place at the Sydney Roosters even if the club signed Daly Cherry-Evans, says coach Trent Robinson as he defends the five-eighth's form.

The first player to graduate from the Roosters' Central Coast pathways to an NRL debut, highly-touted Smith was earmarked by the club as successor to club legend Luke Keary for 2025.
