Two days before BJP workers clashed with police outside Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house while protesting against an alleged denial of atrocities faced by Kashmiri Pandits, fact-checking website Alt News had clarified that a video clip used by BJP leaders to rake up the issue was misleading.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya had earlier shared a 15-second clip of the AAP chief’s speech in the Delhi assembly, where the latter had criticised the BJP’s support to the film The Kashmir Files. He claimed that the Delhi CM denied the atrocities faced by Kashmiri Pandits by terming the film a lie. Similar views were shared by several BJP leaders, including BJP leader Kapil Mishra and party spokesperson Gaurav Goel, besides a section of the media – News 18 Hindi managing editor Amish Devgan among them.
However, according to Alt News, Kejriwal never denied the 1990 Kashmir violence during his speech. Amit Malviya and BJP leader Kapil Mishra “misrepresented” the speech to make it appear that Kejriwal and AAP mocked the plight of Kashmiri Pandits, according to Alt News. The clip uploaded by Malviya had two jump cuts at 00:03 and 00:08 second marks which shows that the video is doctored, the report stated.
BJP has been protesting the alleged remarks. On Wednesday, Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia alleged that security barriers and a CCTV camera at Kejriwal's residence had been vandalised during the protest by BJP. The AAP’s official handle tweeted a 35-second CCTV camera clip which showed a group of men knocking down a security barrier.

Delhi police issued a statement. “Around 1 pm, some protestors breached two barricades and reached the chief minister's house where they created ruckus, shouted slogans...They were carrying a small box of paint from which they threw paint at the door...a boom barrier arm was also found vandalised and a CCTV camera.”
According to the Hindustan Times, police have said that at least 70 people have been held and legal action has been initiated. BJP’s youth wing national secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga said that party MP Tejasvi Surya is among those detained, PTI reported.
