Dawn of War 4 has been delayed: 'We saw an opportunity to further enhance Dawn of War 4 and deliver the quality of experience we've always envisioned'

Bad news: Dawn of War 4 is no longer a mere month away. King Art Games' first take on the RTS series was due on September 17, but it looks like the war needs a bit more time to cook. It's been pushed back until December 3.

If you shell out for the Commander Edition, you'll be able to sneak in a bit earlier, though, with the three-day early access unlock letting you dive in on November 30.

"As we approached the final stages of development, we saw an opportunity to further enhance Dawn of War 4 and deliver the quality of experience we’ve always envisioned," said creative director Jan Theysen. "The additional time will allow us to continue optimising performance, resolving bugs, and applying further polish to ensure players have the best possible experience from day one."

Dawn of War 4's launch will be followed up by free updates with new maps, the return of Crusade mode, more commanders and a mission editor. Two story expansions are also in the works.

There are a lot of big games coming out between now and the end of the year, but this is one of the new releases I'm most excited about. The first two Dawn of War games are among the best RTSs of the 3D era, and King Art's work on Iron Harvest has left me confident that it can rise to the challenge of bringing the series back to its glory days.

Back in 2025, I got to play a skirmish, controlling the Blood Ravens in a big ol' scrap against the orks. And while King Art has made some tweaks to the formula, its closest relative is undeniably the OG Dawn of War. It was an absolute blast—one which ended in an orbital strike that took out the final ork base, while my beefy Dreadnoughts smashed any greenskins trying to escape their grim fate.

I've been craving more time with the game ever since, but I guess I'll need to wait a few months longer.
