Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Dawand Jones will officially remain the starter at left tackle.
The Browns have begun shifting their focus toward the development of their younger drafted players. That trend only continues with the decision to start Dawand Jones over Jedrick Wills Jr. Jones recently got his first starting nod at left tackle, where he held his own against the Baltimore Ravens after Wills suffered another injury.
Even though he hasn’t been excellent at his new position, the coaches see enough potential to let Jones try and develop into a permanent left tackle solution.
Wills is most likely not a player that the franchise is expected to hold onto past his current contract. He still has the talent to be a solid tackle in the NFL, but his time in Cleveland is clearly dwindling. Developing a younger draft pick with high potential is currently the most important objective for the franchise.
