Davina McCall receives MBE in King Charles' first Birthday Honours as Monarch

Davina McCall is now officially Davina Lucy Pascale McCall MBE thanks to the TV legend being recognised in King Charles III's Birthday Honours list.

The former Big Brother presenter, 55, joins the likes of Line of Duty legend Vicky McClure and footballer-turned-pundit Ian Wright in becoming a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

The King's first Birthday Honours List since becoming the country's unelected Head of State last year recognises extraordinary individuals helping to combat significant challenges of our time.

More than 1,000 recipients have been awarded for outstanding contributions across all sectors and parts of the UK, including Davina.

With decades of TV experience under her belt, including recently fronting powerful documentaries about menopause, Davina has been recognised for her services to broadcasting.

Davina kickstarted her career aged just 19 after forming the pop group Lazy Bear before pursuing a career as a classical solo artist.

But the star who is never afraid of holding back quit the music business and became a men's booker at Models 1 before a short stint as a Moulin Rogue-style cabaret performer in Paris.

However, her career soon took off in 1988 when she became the host of the dating programme, Streetmate, as she scoured the country for singletons and hoped to couple them together.

But most will know her for being the host of Big Brother which launched in 2000 and aired on Channel 4.

Davina fronted the show from the initial series until 2010 when the programme was decommissioned by Channel 4 shortly after Ultimate Big Brother.

Nowadays, Davia often appears on Comic Relief as well as hosting the likes of Long Lost Family and fronting a string of documentaries on topics such as the menopause, as well as Popstars: The Rivals.

Speaking about the honours, Deputy Prime Minister Rt Hon. Oliver Dowden MP said: "This year’s honours list is a testament to ordinary people who have demonstrated extraordinary community spirit, and I pay tribute to all those who have been recognised today.

"Our honours system has long been a way of recognising people who make an incredible contribution to life in Britain and beyond.

"We are now focussed on levelling up the system to ensure it represents the length and breadth of the country, and I hope that the fantastic stories this year ensure more regional nominations in the future."
