Former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall is said to be preparing to become the host of the first "Love Island for the middle-aged" as fans called for the unique version of the show.
The 55-year-old has made no secret that she thinks the version of the show should be broadcast and it seems it could now be a possibility, writes The Mirror.
Recently, Davina said that she had been "begging" TV bosses to give the green light, and sources say that the Masked Singer panelist is so close to signing on the dotted line to front The Romance Retreat. ITV announced it earlier this month after being the first choice for bosses.
They told The Mail: "Davina is the perfect fit, she is bubbly, fun and has also endured her relationship problems.
"Until she met her boyfriend she was a single mother too."
During an episode of Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO podcast, Davina said: "I'm begging ITV to let me present mid-life Love Island.
"I could fill a villa in Love Island with middle age people with the best backstories you have ever heard in your life.
"They've lived a life, they're widows, they're people who have been through horrific divorces – they are people who have split up with somebody and decided they want to try and go out with somebody of the same sex as them, like interesting people!"
ITV has called for "vibrant single parents across the UK who are in search of love," as part of their selection for The Romance Retreat.
The show will have a similar set-up to Love Island as contestants make their way to a luxurious villa in the quest for a connection.
While the concept appears similar to the popular ITV2 series, it's not known if there will be a cash prize at the end.
The casting announcement for the show read: "This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown-up children."
IT V and Davina McCall were approached for comment.
